Interview With Michael (September 6, 1998)
This is my second mini "interview" with Michael. (The
first can be found in The Grab Bag.) Again, these are his written answers to questions I'd
asked him in an e-mail.
Q: Hi! It's great to hear from you! MC: You, too :-) Q: Do you have time for a mini-interview now?! There are lots of things I wanted to ask! MC: Sure! Q: What movie/TV projects have you done since "Escape From Wildcat Canyon"? MC: Well, I do Arthur, the number 1 show on PBS; it also just won an Emmy. Also, Princess Sissi; it's a big success in Europe. Im also in negotiations for a project now that I cant talk about yet. Q: Was "Princess Sissi" that animated feature you did a few months ago?! MC: No, it's an animated TV series. I did 52 episodes, and it's a really big hit in Europe right now. I play Konrad, Sissi's brother; and Tommy, her best friend. Q: What was the most difficult movie/TV role you've done so far, and why? MC: Hmm .. Well Screamers was really hard because it was really, really cold, like 40 (degrees). Also, the Duplessis Orphans was hard, too, because I had to play a retarded person. Q: "Screamers" was an R-rated film that contained very gruesome violence. Were you allowed to watch the film after you made it? What did you think of your role as David? MC: Hehehe, well that was a really fun movie to shoot because I got to watch them film really cool special effects, like people on fire, my arm got blown off, robots, and other cool stuff. My parents let me watch all of my movies no matter what the rating is, because I was there so I know it's not real, hehe. Also, Im 13 and I like action movies :-) although Screamers had a little too much in a few places, for me anyway, like at the beginning when the guy gets sawed up, and when they go to the bad guys base, and theres blood everywhere. Q: "Screamers" was REALLY intense! I'll bet you're the ONLY kid actor that gets blown away with a nuclear warhead! (Even Arnold isn't that tough!!) :-) MC: Hehehe :-) Q: Much of your work after "Screamers" is family-oriented. Are these your favorite kinds of movies to do? Would you do another movie like "Screamers" again? MC: I like both. Id really like to do another sci-fi though, because it was my only one ever and it was really fun, except the temperature. :-) Q: How tall are you, and how much do you weigh? (People ask for this...) MC: Who asks? Well, Im about 52 and 105. Q: How many people are in your family? MC: I have 2 brothers. Q: Do you still live in Montreal? I keep hearing rumors that you moved to Los Angeles. MC: Well, I go to both places a lot. Q: Do you speak French? MC: yep Q: Have you ever done any French movies?! MC: Hehe, nope, because they always said I had too much of an English (not British) accent. Q: What is your favorite: ----------Computer game MC: Diablo, Starcraft, Total Annihilation, Quake2 Action-Quake and Weapons Factory (Capture the Flag), Age of Empires and Final Fantasy 7. ----------Pizza topping MC: Plain Cheese ----------Ice cream MC: I like Butterfinger McFlurries at McDonalds and World Class Chocolate Ice-Cream at Baskin Robbins. ----------Movie MC: Liar Liar, Mrs. Doubtfire, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi (Big Star Wars fan), Tomorrow Never Dies, I liked the opening sequence the best. ----------TV show MC: Simpsons, Seinfeld before it was cancelled :-( , Bewitched, the C-Net computer shows, Rugrats Q: Do you get an allowance? MC: Not really, but if I really want something, I can usually take money out of my bank account. Q: Thanks again! MC: Thanks!
